Get our girls to camp!
This October, we are holding our annual three-day leadership camp for our Year 10 Future Leaders. In total, 66 girls will attend, accompanied by nine adult supervisors. We need $10,000 to cover the cost of holding the camp at YMCA Camp Adair in Hunua. Please consider helping us out - any amount can make a huge impact.
Camp has the power to positively change young women’s perspectives on their future, and our programme participants consistently tell us that camp is a major highlight of their time on the programme.
Camp days are filled with activities that will confront and stretch the girls beyond what they themselves think is possible. Some of the activities include, team building/trust exercises, early morning runs, leadership and personal development workshops, journaling, confidence courses and bush walks. Our camps provide the opportunity for our Future Leaders to experience things they would not otherwise get the chance to; building confidence and allowing them to see what they are capable of. Many of the girls are challenged, inspired and achieve many ‘firsts’, some of which require an overcoming of major fears, all early indications of future leaders in the making. The girls are united through shared experiences and build strong relationships with the YWCA and other Future Leaders, that will be sustained throughout their four years on the programme and beyond.
